Who are we?
We are a network of classical musicians who are helping support Ukrainian musicians and their families who have been displaced in the current crisis. Starting with our personal and professional networks and the BYOM Academy community, we have developed a network of musical friends who can help arrange safe passage through Europe to residency places, further study or family and friends.

Ми – мережа класичних музикантів, які допомагають підтримувати українських
музикантів та їхні сім’ї, які були переміщені в умовах нинішньої кризи. Починаючи з наших особистих та професійних мереж і також спільноти BYOM Academy, ми
заснували мережу “музичних друзів”, які можуть допомогти організувати безпечний
проїзд через Європу до місць проживання, подальшого навчання чи родини та друзів.
What are we doing?
We are fundraising to help support our efforts helping musicians on the ground by paying for visas, covid tests, replacements for lost clothes and belongings, organising safe onward travel and emergency relief funds. We are also helping with visa applications and hosting musicians ourselves or providing safe housing with musical hosts. We are also helping with highlighting study and work opportunities and also helping with application procedures.
Що ми робимо?
Ми збираємо кошти, щоб підтримати наші зусилля, допомагаючи музикантам на
місцях, оплачуючи візи, тести на COVID, заміну втраченого одягу та речей,
організуючи безпечні подальші подорожі та кошти для надання невідкладної
допомоги. Ми допомагаємо з оформленням візи та самостійно приймаємо музикантів або надаємо безпечне житло у людей, готових надати можливість зайнять музикою. Ми також допомагаємо розповсюджувати інформацію про можливості навчання та роботи і також пропонуємо допомогу з процедурами подачі заявок.
Who are our partners?
BYOM Academy
The BYOM Academy offers a variety of career management and entrepreneurship courses for classical musicians. Founded by Bernhard Kerres, BYOM has started a new platform where musicians can offer displaced musicians refuge and places to practise. Many of the Help Musicians Ukraine team are part of the BYOM community.
HOST A MUSICIAN
AEC Music
The Association Européene des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen is calling on all AEC member institutions to support students and staff from music education institutions in Ukraine so that the latter are able to continue their music studies and academic activities in another country without bureaucratic hurdles.
mushRoom is a platform for people to offer practice spaces for musicians in the UK and further afield. For Ukrainian musicians, they have waived all commission fees and are happy to support Ukrainian musicians and kind hosts in arranging their practice times and helping them find spaces to make music.
Scandinavian Cello School
The Scandinavian Cello School, founded by Jacob Shaw is hosting an emergency residency for Ukrainian string players. The musicians who have arrived there have found a nurturing environment where they can develop their skills. We hope that other institutions will be inspired to create similar residencies.
Startups for Ukraine - Silicon Castles
Jasmin at Silicon Castles has been invaluable support to us, finding housing and job opportunities for musician’s families in Salzburg.Silicon Castles, together with their startup community across Europe, their investors and the business incubator Startup Salzburg, have launched the initiative STARTUPS FOR UKRAINE, delivering medical supplies to Lviv and taking refugees to Salzburg, Austria, on the way back. The team around Startups for Ukraine finds these refugees safe homes in Salzburg and helps them with registration, job search or study options.
Chopin Smolna
Chopin Smolna has been generously housing refugees and providing food and emergency shelter, as well as a room for pianists to practise the piano. They are also promoting Ukrainian artists through their concert series.
Polski Chór Kameralny Schola Cantorum Gedanensis
Thanks to the work of Magdalena Bray and the Schola Cantorum Gedanensis Ukrainian artists will have an opportunity to perform in Gdańsk this Summer.
SprintAir company has supported a group of young Ukrainian musicians staying currently in Warsaw by funding scholarships covering their participation costs in a summer baroque music masterclass in the Polish capital.
ARTISTS IN EXILE offers help and support for Ukrainian artists in the UK. They help with travel, accommodation and making links with artist communities. We are collaborating with ARTISTS IN EXILE in order to find housing for Ukrainian musicians.
MUSIC TALENTS OF EUROPE FOUNDATION
Musical Talents of Europe Foundation is helping us connect Ukrainian musicians with study opportunities in Spain at Universidad de Burgos, Leon, Salamanca & Valladolid; and also helping with applications for further funding opportunities.
Thank you to Gudrun Hardiman-Pollross and the team at the Austrian Cultural Forum, Warsaw, for hosting a Summer Concert Series every Wednesday at 1pm to promote Ukrainian artists who are now in Warsaw.
